Please be advised that substantial amendments have been made to what is commonly referred to as the "Pharmacy Location Rules". These changes have been issued September and take effect from 18th October 2011! Registered Pharmacists across Australia have or will shortly be sent information pertaining to these changes by the Australian Government - Department of Health & Ageing. The changes will affect all community pharmacies and we recommend you become familiar with these changes.

Medici Capital recently published an article on their website that discusses a number of issues regarding the generational change of pharmacy ownership. Industry evidence suggests that the average owner of a pharmacy is between 50 and 60 years of age with a significant portion skewed towards the more mature generations. Given this, many pharmacies will change hands in the coming years resulting in a generational transisition of pharmacy ownership. As an owner or prospective owner, what have you done to prepare yourself for this change?
