The much anticipated opening round of AFL for the 2012 Season saw some interesting results. Particularly notable was Greater West Sydney's introduction into the AFL, they fought gallantly however fell down to their cross town rivals the Sydney swans. Other highlights of the round were Hawthorn rising to the occasion and defeating Collingwood in their much anticipated rematch, Fremantle narrowly defeating Geelong at Patersons Stadium and Carlton firing up in the last quarter to over power a spirited Richmond outfit. The first week of PharmeFooty saw only one full score of nine, four scores of eight and many participants scoring seven, with the average for the round being five.
