Abstract:

Griffith University is one of Australia's largest universities and is known for its emphasis on innovation and interdisciplinarity. Griffith Health, with ten schools, significant health-related research programs, almost 5,000 full-time equivalent students and around 400 staff, is one of the largest academic health groups in the Australian university sector.

Based at the Gold Coast campus in new purpose-built facilities, this unique and innovative pharmacy program commenced in 2002.

Stated salary range $47,497 - $64,457. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $55,572 - $75,415

The School of Pharmacy, seeks to appoint an Associate Lecturer to deliver the professional aspects of its programs. The appointee will be a qualified pharmacy technician and will assume responsibility for the pharmacy practice teaching laboratories. The position has a teaching/professional practice focus with an expectation of scholarship related to learning and teaching. The Pharmacy School occupies purpose-built facilities at the Gold Coast campus and offers both undergraduate and graduate entry pharmacy education.
Job Description:

Key Accountabilities / Duties:
1. Prepare and maintain the professional pharmacy teaching resources and facilities (practice, pharmacotherapeutics, formulation, aseptic dispensing), including the preparation of professional manuals and related teaching materials, and the procurement, care and use of products, diagnostic aids, patient education resources, dispensing software and equipment.
2. Supervise the maintenance of the dispensing software, ensure updates are performed as scheduled and enter/maintain patient files.
3. Provide instruction and training to staff and students on the safe use and operation of pharmacy products, equipment and diagnostic aids.
4. Teach and assess student performance in the professional pharmacy courses (practice, pharmacotherapeutics, formulation, aseptic dispensing).
5. Assist with student industrial visits.
6. Develop and maintain productive relationships with the professional pharmacy organisations, pharmacists and pharmacy staff, pharmacy wholesalers, pharmaceutical companies, health organisations and other health professionals.
7. Undertake pharmacy-related training and practice, and participate in continuing professional development activities as required.
8. Participate in the School’s continuing professional development, promotional and professional networking activities.
9. Assist with professional pharmacy research.
10. Undertake scholarship related to learning and teaching.
11. Contribute to University, professional and community service.

SELECTION CRITERIA: (should not be excessive in number and each no more than 250 characters).
ESSENTIAL:
1. Demonstrated teaching skills or willingness to acquire such skills.
2. Demonstrated assessment and curriculum development skills or willingness to acquire such skills.
3. Demonstrated development of learning and teaching resources or willingness to acquire such skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to liaise and maintain good professional relationships.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
6. Demonstrated management skills.
7. Demonstrated high level communication skills.
8. Dispensary Assistant Level 3 or Level 4 competence (or equivalent qualification)
9. Demonstrated recent or active involvement in pharmacy related activities.
10. Willingness to undertake further training as required in aseptic and cytotoxic dispensing, pharmaceutical compounding and topics in professional pharmacy practice.

DESIRABLE:
1. Qualifications and/or experience in aseptic and cytotoxic dispensing pharmaceutical compounding (training will be provided).
2. Current or past involvement in pharmacy-related training and/or research.
